Carol Podney Wartman
Carol comes to Bennett with a range of education expertise, including many years teaching in bilingual and Spanish immersion programs at the elementary level. She taught educational psychology at La Salle University in Philadelphia, prior to becoming a supervisor of intern teachers in the Masters’ Program at the University of Pennsylvania. Most recently, she has supervised students at the University of Washington who are in training for their English as a Second Language certificates, and she holds a K-8 teaching certificate in Washington State.
Carol’s experience overseeing graduate education students has afforded her the opportunity to work in many public and private schools in the Philadelphia and Seattle areas and to observe first-hand the ever-changing trends in education. Additionally, she has moved her own family both abroad and within the United States several times and has experienced personally the education challenges faced by relocating families.
As a fluent Spanish speaker, Carol works with a range of families, including those moving into the United States and also those relocating to Spanish speaking countries. She also conducts many assessments for corporations deciding on what kind and level of support to offer a relocating or repatriating student.
Carol received her B.A. at the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a major in psychology and a minor in Spanish, and she holds a M.Ed in Educational Psychology from U.C. Berkeley. She resides with her family in Seattle, Washington.
